Tens of thousands draining their superannuation for medical procedures

Tens of thousands of people are draining their superannuation every year for dental work and other medical procedures.
And a new breed of "middle men" are helping medical practitioners get the job done.
A growing number of agencies have recently emerged, helping people access their retirement fund early for dental, IVF, weight loss, plastic surgery and other services.

The Australian Taxation Office data shows 90,700 Australian's applied to have their super released early on compassionate grounds in the 2023 to 2024 financial year.
That's a 71 per cent spike since the pandemic in 2020.
