Brave little boy receives early Christmas surprise after reaching medical milestone

A trip to the movies is an outing most kids love.

But after spending half of his young life in hospital, visiting the cinema is a brand new experience for four-year-old Teddy.

Two years ago his parents Anna and Simon received shocking news their toddler had leukaemia.

"It was just devastating," Anna said.

"The first day we had chemo, it was just heartbreaking, to see them push the toxic chemicals into his body, and you know, knowing that that was, you know, the thing that was going to save him."

Teddy endured 15 months of intense chemotherapy and immunotherapy along with countless bone marrow aspirates and lumbar punctures.

Teddy rang the bell in August, signifying the end of treatment.

He'll be home for Christmas and is due to start daycare again in the new year.

To mark Teddy's brave fight, A Current Affair teamed up with the Starlight Children's Foundation to help surprise the four-year-old, along with two other deserving children, with special surprises just in time for Christmas.
