Sydney sparky's 'tinkler sprinkler' stops pubgoers from using his driveway as a urinal

A Sydney sparky has spent thousands of dollars on a sprinkler system to stop opportunistic pubgoers from urinating in his driveway.

Charing Cross resident Steve Bodnar said he's caught hundreds of people relieving themselves in the driveway next to his home, which is situated in between two local pubs.

The local electrician said he has tried several methods to stop the revellers from doing their business on his property, before settling on the "tinkler sprinkler".

"They'll arrive here in an Uber and stop here and then urinate ... and leave all their beer cans here," Bodnar said.

"The chain didn't work, the cameras didn't work the lights didn't work... the licensing police, the publican, the licensees, the precinct committee.

"I thought the only way I can do this is to maybe wet them."

Bodnar said as soon as he installed the automatic sprinkler system, the issue dried up completely.

"When somebody crosses this line and enters my property I've got a motion sensor up there that picks up the people, turns the lights on, activates the solenoid valve and then the water goes down the pipe and comes out these pop-up sprinklers and theoretically wets everybody and they get a fright and run off," Bodnar explained.

After spending a few thousand dollars to rig the system up, Bodnar can control the system from an app on his phone.

"It's completely stopped it ... people are still coming in and then getting the fright of their life," he said.
