All employers must abide by their obligations under the law and pay their workers their proper entitlements.

Where employers incorrectly classify workers as contractors to avoid giving those workers their proper entitlements, they can face significant penalties.

I would encourage anyone with questions about their own employment arrangements, or about the arrangements they have entered into with their workers, to speak with the Fair Work Ombudsman or Australian Building and Construction Commission to understand their rights and obligations.

The Government stands for fairness in the workplace, and this rightly includes the proper engagement of workers.
