Royal fans eagerly await King Charles' first visit as reigning monarch

With King Charles III and Queen Camilla due to arrive on Aussie shores tomorrow, excited fans are gearing up to catch a glimpse of the famous pair.

Tonight we have an insight from those who've previously rubbed shoulders with the monarchs.

Victorian man Chas is looking forward to welcoming his old schoolmate.

Chas knew then-Prince Charles in 1966, when he attended Timbertop, a campus of Geelong Grammar School located near Mansfield, Victoria.

"He was a very shy fella, he was very polite. He was a great trier at everything we did," Chas said.

"They got used to him very quickly, initially it was a big deal but it was more in the lead up to it."

"Once we got into the routine of things he was just another student."
