Interim prohibition order issued against spiritual healer

Rachael Dixon was passionate about fitness and healthy living.

But she paid for a retreat and never came home.

Now, regulators are moving in on the spiritual healer who hosted the event.

The mum from Melbourne's east headed off on a retreat in April last year, taking two serves of mushroom tea during a healing ceremony.

Within hours, she was dead.

The event was run by Deanne Matthews. Mathews was fined $3000 after she pleaded guilty to the single charge of trafficking psilocybin.

Police found no evidence that Mathews was responsible for her death.

But the Victorian Health Complaints Commissioner has now issued an interim prohibition order against Mathews which, in a nutshell, stops her from offering healing sessions, retreats or anything else she once advertised.

The order "will remain in force until 27 October 2025 while an investigation is conducted."
