Power switch bungle

When chef Xania Jade switched energy providers to get a better deal, she had no idea it would end up costing her more than $50,000.
It could also put her restaurant out of business.
Statement from Energy Australia spokesperson
Businesses depend on reliable supplies of electricity and in this instance we could have done better.
Ms Jade and Mr Bradley, owners of Lot 1 restaurant, contacted us in March to connect their business with gas and electricity.
However, we were given the address for another property – Shop 1. We connected what we believed to be the correct property.
Since we were made aware of the problem, our priority has been to get the power back on as soon as possible. We understand from Mr Bradley that AGL, the original supplier which disconnected the site, has reconnected their electricity today.
We’d love to hear from you
