Parents’ plea over deaf baby’s surgery

Baby Grace was born deaf. Her only chance of hearing is surgery in the US that costs a fortune.

The ATO won’t allow her parents to use their super and their health insurer won’t fund it.

But her parents are refusing to give up hope.

“Grace has been an absolutely beautiful baby she’s the most determined little girl you could ever hope for,” her mother, Charlotte, said.

“She’s got such a lovely spirit.

“When you know there’s something out there that can help her like this but you can’t access it, I can’t tell you what that does to you as a parent.”

Grace’s father, Matt, added that they are “close, full of hope”.

“She’s bright as a button. I just know that as soon as this is fixed she’ll really flourish.”
