'Took him out like the wheelie bin': Melbourne tradie confronts would-be thief in driveway
A Melbourne tradie has recounted the moment he took down an armed man in his driveway after he found him sifting through the tools in his ute.
CCTV footage captured the moment Don Patron dragged the would-be thief across his driveway.
"In the moment adrenaline kicked in ... it's either fight or flight and I chose fight to be honest," Patron told A Current Affair.

"I just attacked him straight away, I wasn't going to wait to see what he was going to do."
Patron claims the man pulled out a knife, but not even that was enough to stop the tradie.
"I just attacked him, we had a bit of a fight on the floor, he tried to get away from me, I dragged him back and then took him out like the wheelie bin," he said.
"If the punishment doesn't fit the crime, then sometimes you've got to give them a punishment that fits."
Patron needed six stitches after he was slashed on the head during the ordeal.

After losing $30,000 worth of tools in another robbery in the past, Patron said he was not prepared to lose his valuables again.
"This time I wasn't losing the tools, I'll tell you that much," he said.
"That's my livelihood, that's how I get paid."
Despite escaping, Patron said he was not concerned about the man returning.
"I don't think he'll be back."
