Melbourne grandmother regains hearing thanks to generous equipment donation

Medical advancements are coming in thick and fast, but they also come at a big cost.
For many hospitals, purchasing state-of-the-art equipment couldn't be done without the generosity of those with deep pockets.
For grandmother Susan Samet, significant hearing loss meant the once busy socialite began to "withdraw from society".

"If there was a big family thing, I think 'I can't do this, [it's] just too much'," she said.
"You're just sad because you think, 'oh, well, this is it', you know?"
Thankfully, a donated piece of equipment has gifted her a new lease on life.
