The NSW family with generations of award-winning brickies

There are three generations of brickies in the Harkness family.

There's 19-year-old Bruce, brother Barry, their father Job, aunty Sheree, uncle Greg and grandfather Phil.

So skilled is the Illawarra family, that Job represented Australia in the WorldSkills Championships for bricklaying in 2001.

Not to be outdone, Sheree had a crack at the world titles as well back in 2018.

She made the final 28 in the world in the speed-laying competition - laying 646 bricks in one hour, or one brick every 10 seconds.

Now the newest generation of Harkness brickies is hoping they'll get to represent NSW and Australia in the bricklaying championships.

Barry placed third in the regional championships, while Bruce took out the top spot.

The 19-year-old has now qualified for the Australian finals which, if successful, could land him a spot in next year's world championships.
