Hero neighbour takes down hooded man allegedly prying on teenage girl in her bedroom

What would you do if you saw an alleged peeping tom spying on your neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter?

Chad Hillier took matters into his own hands, pinning a man to the ground in a citizen’s arrest.

It was 9pm on a weeknight when the young teen was alone in her bedroom playing computer games on a quiet street on the Sunshine Coast.

She was completely unaware she was being watched allegedly by a hooded man.

But what the alleged prowler didn’t realise was he too was being watched.

“I was coming out of my bedroom and then I just randomly, for some reason I just looked down and then I saw a hoodie and then I was looking and I was like, ‘what is that?’” neighbour Demi Irwin said.

“She was just innocently on her computer, like being a kid, and to think of her looking up at him standing there doing what he was doing, it’s really quite disturbing.”

Irwin said she immediately called out to Hillier for help.

“I was starkers so I grabbed some shorts and I grabbed my Milwaukee torch which is super bright,” he said.

“Demi said, ‘he’s moving babe, he’s moving’, so that’s when I knew I had to go quick. So I’ve sprinted as fast as I could straight at this fence here and then half jumped over it and I thought he was already going to be gone because he heard the noise.

“I [shone the torch] straight down there and I seen him hiding behind the air conditioner unit.”

Hillier pounced on the alleged peeping tom, performing a citizen’s arrest while waiting for police to arrive.

The alleged prowler, 30-year-old Kyle McInnes, is known to police.

He’s been charged with two counts of trespass and one count of observations in breach of privacy.

“To think my neighbour just didn’t even try to stop to think about his own safety, he just went straight into it, got him and there’s a good ending … you know [I’m] very thankful for them,” the girl’s mother told A Current Affair.
