No one really knows how they would react in a moment of great danger.
But what speech pathologist Eleanor Bryant did yesterday came as no surprise to her loved ones.
Her selfless act saved a group of children when an out-of-control truck crashed into a kindergarten north of Melbourne yesterday, but sadly it claimed her life.

In the wake of her tragic death, the wife and mum-of-two has been remembered as a hero both in life and in death.
Bec Burton's daughter Milla was born profoundly deaf.
She says no one managed to help her daughter like Bryant did.

"She wasn't just a therapist, she loved Milla and she became part of our family, every week coming into our home," Burton told A Current Affair.
"If it meant doing a lesson under the table, if it meant doing it under the trampoline, in the dolls' house.
"She found a way to make learning fun and Milla just took to her."
