Like many regional areas across Australia, the towns of Mudgee and Gulgong in the NSW Central West were at crisis point with a shortage of doctors.

But attracting the medical professionals to the area was proving to be almost impossible.

Fed up waiting for government help, residents of the towns took matters into their own hands to help fill the shortage.
