The triple zero call Daniel Andrews made in the minutes after 2013 crash

A Current Affair has exclusively broadcast the recording of the call that former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews made to triple zero in the moments after the 2013 collision that left a teenager with life-threatening injuries.

Mr Andrews has always claimed that his wife Catherine was driving the Ford Territory and he was in the passenger seat when the vehicle was hit with "force" by cyclist Ryan Meuleman.

This version was accepted by authorities.

In the call, Mr Andrews told a triple zero operator that "a kid's come flying through on the bike path and we've hit him".

In his 2013 police statement made after the crash, Andrews said: "I want to make it clear - the cyclist hit our vehicle."

Mr Andrews was the opposition leader in January 2013 when the incident took place.

Mr and Mrs Andrews were taking a summer holiday at Blairgowrie on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

About 1.02pm on January 7, 2013, Mr Andrews was in a vehicle that turned right off Melbourne Road into Ridley Street.

It's claimed the then-15-year-old Meuleman was attempting to cross Ridley Street on his pushbike when the collision took place.

On the call, Mr Andrews indicated that he was standing close to Meuleman.

"I'm just about 10 metres away [from the scene] trying to get a mobile phone signal," Mr Andrews told the triple zero operator.

"He is conscious but he's in a lot of pain."

Mr Andrews is the longest serving Labor premier in Victorian history. He led the state from 2014 to 2023.
