Why Aussies are being encouraged to crack open a cold one

Australian beer makers are encouraging drinkers to crack open an Aussie-made craft brew tomorrow in celebration of National Drink Beer Day.
Servicing close to 700 breweries nationwide, Australia's growing craft industry is worth almost $2 billion.
But Phat Brewing owner Travis Moore said the industry continues to face a number of challenges including increased material costs and rising government tax excises.

"[The tax] goes up twice each year ... and what that does, it puts a lot of pressure onto the small brewers who can't continue to absorb that cost in the same sort of ways that the larger breweries across the country can," Moore said.
