Crackdown could see e-scooters banned after alarming rise in crashes

At least two patients per day - that's how many people just one major emergency hospital in Queensland is treating due to an alarming rise in e-scooter accidents.

The injuries so complex, so severe, patients are being assessed just like high speed car crash victims.

"The problem now is so severe and so terrible and some of these crashes are so tragic that we really can't afford to let this keep going," Doctor Michael Kane, head of public policy at the RACQ, said.

Now a crackdown could see stand-up scooters banned - and modified devices seized.
