How to stay socially connected through lockdown

There are numerous ways to stay socially connected through lockdown.

From virtual parties, wine tasting, online choirs, trivia and entertainment for the kids – there's something for everyone.

Virtual parties

The Mosman Women's Wine Club host Shane said every Friday night the group gets together every Friday night and sometimes on other nights too for some "virtual vinos".

"We share how our days been, how our weeks been, the struggles were personally going through," Shane told A Current Affair.

Couch Choir

Astrid, who is the founder and director of Pub Choir, said it's now become Couch Choir because of lockdowns.

"Where we used to gather in the thousands in a nice sweaty venue and all sing a happy song together. Obviously, that can't happen at the moment, so we moved online," she said.

"Regular people are invited to come together and sing their hearts out … and then we edit you back together into a virtual choir."

Online trivia

Nick who runs The Trivia Mafia at usually-packed pubs has taken it online.

There are about 70 people who tune in to play every Thursday.

"They make a donation and it's always with a big thank you," Nick said.

Online wine tours and tasting

Steve took his Cellar Door Tours online.

You can take part by purchasing a one or two-person pack, which includes a selection of six wines and one to two glasses from $79.

"We do an interactive wine tasting session, so you can do that from home tasting the same wines from the cellar door with the wine maker," Shane said.

Kids entertainment

For the kids, SuperTrev is here to save children and their parents in lockdown, entertaining kids from $79.

"We're doing live, interactive events with kids online and on screen … we do a lot of quizzes, dancing, trivia … We're trying to give kids a fun and exciting time during a time that's otherwise a little difficult," SuperTrev said.

Since lockdown, he's gone global. Entertaining kids across the globe.

"Kids may not be understanding it (lockdowns) as much as their parents so if we can offer some light relief for them, it helps give them a great day," SuperTrev said.
