Crime-fighting great-grandmother's surprise after heartless burglary

Last week, Australians fell in love with a fiery crime-fighting great-grandmother who chased an opportunistic thief out of her Brisbane home.

Among thousands touched by Joanna "Jopie" De Loryn's story were security companies Crimsafe and Eufy, who said today they would upgrade her security systems free of charge to help her feel safe again.

An emotional Jopie embraced Crimsafe chief executive Jim Sturgess after he told her she would have her diamond grille security doors replaced with Crimsafe.

"Once we put thee Crimsafe door on, there will be woven stainless steel behind there so they won't be able to get in," Sturgess explained to Jopie.

"You'll have piece of mind in your own home and you won't have to worry anymore. And your family won't have to worry anymore."

"That's so great, I'm shaking up," Jopie said.

Eufy Australia also gifted Jopie with a brand new security system, including outdoor cameras, an indoor camera, an alarm and a smart doorbell.

"My grandmother is the same age as you and she's also a stubborn Dutch woman and I would hate if what happened to you happened to her," Eufy Australia PR manager Tove Berkhout said.

"We're sending you lots of love and well wishes from the team here at Eufy in Melbourne."

A number of Jopie's belongings, including irreplaceable jewellery from her late husband Bart, were allegedly stolen in the burglary last week.

Since then Jopie's been overwhelmed with support.

"Everything has been so great and I've been so thankful for everyone."

A 44-year-old man has been charged with a raft of offences, including burglary.
