How the new season of Australian Ninja Warrior will be different

Australian Ninja Warrior is back with new hosts, celebrity competitors and more challenging obstacles, but this season is set to be a little different.

This season, teenagers are now allowed to compete, there are a number of new hosts and there's some tricky new obstacles to contend with.

Teens will be taking on their idols in the bicep bursting, callous causing, pectoral pumping, outrageous obstacle course.

And the new season six hosts are none other than tennis superstar Jim Courier and A Current Affair's very own Leila McKinnon.

"I do have fun with you (on A Current Affair) but we've got to do serious things, we've got you chasing con-men down the street," McKinnon told reporter Steve Marshall.

"We are putting the world … right, but this (Australian Ninja Warrior) is just family fun. We are in a crowd, we are cheering. You know … post COVID, it's really what we need."

There's also some new competitors with a number of teens taking on their idols and there's fresh sideline commentary - or rather sideline comedy with KIIS 1065 radio hosts Will and Woody.

"I mean this year they are going to have motorbikes as well. You are just going to jump on a Harley and fly off the edge," Will said.

The odd celebrity fundraiser is expected too, with Australia's Got Talent winner, Jack Vidgin set to make an appearance.

Australian Ninja Warrior is on for young and old once again.

"This is a hard course, some of the Ninja's some of the legends last night, they had fear in their eyes looking at some of the obstacles, it's amazing," McKinnon said.

"It's kind of like the fear you drive when you are chasing the conmen, very similar," Courier said to Marshall.
