Space travel for Australians on the horizon
The race is on in the $600 billion global space economy and while Australia's own industry has been fledgling for decades, there are new hopes it could become a key player in a new era.
"Australia for a very long time has really been denied access to space, and with these new reusable rockets and civilian space travel created by people in their own companies, it's open to us now," Dr Chris Boshuizen told A Current Affair.
Dr Boshuizen recently returned to earth after becoming the third Australian to travel to space.

He was part of a four-person mission, aboard Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin capsule, alongside Hollywood's own space star William Shatner.
"It was far more beautiful than you could ever imagine, the colour of the atmosphere was the most beautiful sapphire I've seen in my life, glowing as a shield over Earth," he said.
"We got up in about four minutes then the rocket separates from the capsule and we fly up another minute or two to reach the max and the whole trip up and down is 12 minutes."

He believes his recent trip to the stars could be a new chapter for the human race and that we can all go one day too.
