Aussie wellness queen's qualifications probed after loophole laid bare

When A Current Affair took a microscope to some of her biohacks, like consuming methylene blue and volcanic rock, we uncovered what's been described as a loophole in accreditation for nutritionists in Australia.

It involves online training provider Vast Fitness Academy, which offers a certificate in nutrition with 12 months of study.

As the national VET regulator, ASQA's purpose is to ensure quality vocational education and training so that students, industry, governments and the community have confidence in the integrity of qualifications issued by training providers.

Vast Training Academy Pty Ltd, trading as Vast Fitness Academy, was registered to deliver the Certificate IV in Nutrition from 22 July 2022.

The qualification was first offered under a different course number from December 2018 to July 2022. Vast Fitness applied to renew delivering the qualification with the current course number from 22 July 2022.

In late May this year, after notifying the course owner, the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) amended the code of the Certificate of IV in Nutrition to 251911 Health Promotion Officer. This was changed to reflect a more appropriate level aligned with the qualification's outcomes.

ASQA has a range of regulatory powers, determined by the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011. Any use of our regulatory powers is proportionate and aligned to our regulatory risk framework.

Due to ongoing investigations, ASQA cannot comment further on Vast Fitness Training.
