Is AI a good or bad thing?: Tech and cybersafety experts weigh in on new craze

Artificial intelligence (AI) is breaking new territory each day - refining and becoming more believable.

From presidents to rock stars and even A Current Affair's own Allison Langdon, AI is creating or recreating reality.

"We're going to have to question everything," tech guru Trevor Long said.

So, is AI good or is it bad?

That depends on whose hands it's in.

Susan McLean - a police officer for 27 years, who is now a cybersafety expert - believes it has already fallen into the wrong hands.

There are medical advances being made because of AI but as reporter Nat Wallace explained, adults and even children are becoming victims to scams born from the technology.

"What we have to do is educate and raise awareness," McLean said.
