Hypnotist bondage master accused of 'non-consensual' acts

Australians were stunned by the dramatic arrest of a self-described polyamorous bondage master in Armidale in northern NSW last month which saw ex-soldier James Davis arrested on slavery charges.

A Current Affair can now reveal more explosive allegations against two of Davis' closest confidents, computer expert David Taylor and forklift driver Joshua Clinch.

Taylor is a rope bondage master and teacher who allegedly carried out non-consensual acts on partners and party goers.

Jasmine* met Taylor after her marriage failed.

She said her romantic journey with him took a disturbing turn when Taylor began recruiting much younger women to be part of their relationship.

Jasmine also said her rope play with Taylor, in her mind, became abusive and he performed non-consensual acts on her.

"I said to him why are you doing this, and he said to me because I want to show you that you belong to me," Jasmine told A Current Affair.

Jasmine alleges Taylor's mind games included hypnosis, which posed a far greater danger to women.

"He would have them in a state where they could not consent that he was doing things they had not agreed to when they were in a hypnotic state, being passed around at those parties," she said.

Taylor admits he uses hypnosis but denies any wrongdoing.

"I had a very, very brief stint where I was interested in the idea, but I certainly wasn't any good at it," Taylor told A Current Affair.

The rope bondage master's claim that he's a novice hypnotist is at odds with online messages he sent to an ex-partner.

"I was using hypnosis like a party trick without realising how deeply it might be taken by people. Basically, my enthusiasm overtook my good sense," he wrote.

Other women alleged Taylor used an electric cattle prod on people without their consent.

Travel agent Bec claims she saw Taylor shock unsuspecting adults.

"He was using his rope to whip bystanders non consensually during a scene. That was the same time he used a cattle prod on people as well and they definitely did not consent to being cattle prodded," Bec said.

Taylor told A Current Affair the conversation around consent is nuanced.

"I certainly always attempted to use consent appropriately, I've certainly always tried to make sure there's always ongoing consent in everything that I've done," he said.

Taylor partied at the House of Cadifor in Armidale with Davis, who is facing slavery charges.

Davis entertained other mates like Clinch - who boasted online about being mentored by Davis and setting up his own sex cult house.

Jasmine claims Clinch controlled his girlfriends to the extent one of them felt too terrified to leave.

"He's just another person who thinks he can do whatever he wants with women," she said.

Clinch works in a logistics warehouse, but he wasn't keen to discuss his plans to set up a slave house.

"Leave me alone, I didn't do anything," Clinch yelled while trying to hide his face under his jacket.

Days later Clinch was seen loading a cage like contraption onto the back of his Ute at his home in Western Sydney.

NSW Police confirmed to A Current Affair, officers visited Clinch but wouldn't discuss the details.

The men and women who take part in this underground scene concede consent is not always black and white.

When A Current Affair asked rope bondage master and hypnotist Taylor if he'd ever crossed the line, he responded by saying.

"I have no idea, clearly if somebody thinks that I have then maybe I have, but I certainly haven't done it intentionally," he said.

A Current Affair is liaising with the Australian Federal Police and has passed on all the information it gathered in this investigation.
