'We didn't bring anything except the clothes we were wearing': The fall of Afghanistan, one year on

On August 15 last year, the Taliban took control of Kabul.

Samira Noori and her family got lucky when Australian soldiers bundled them onto a military plane.

It might be a year on, but for Samira it feels like yesterday.

"We didn't bring anything with us except the clothes that we were wearing and one pair of shoes on our feet," she said.

Home is now an apartment in Merrylands, in Sydney's west.

Samira and her brothers go to school and learn English.
