Val and John's fight

But the couple are now locked in an ugly battle with council over a humble driveway shade sail.
Council says, ‘pay a huge permit or pull it down’.
Val and John say, ‘go jump in the lake’.
Statement from a Moreton Regional Council spokesperson
Following a complaint from a resident, council inspected a number of shade sail structures on properties in (the Johnsons' street).
It was established that seven properties had shade sail structures which did not have appropriate building or council approvals, which they would have required at the time of being constructed.
Council issued show cause notices to all seven properties in March 2019. Three property owners have subsequently complied and removed the structures.
Council is in ongoing discussions with the remaining four property owners and to assist has granted an extension to the compliance time frame for these properties which includes (the Johnson residence).
