The volunteers bringing Christmas joy to some of our most vulnerable

For the past 20 years, the Tree of Joy at St Ives Rotary Club has been spreading Christmas cheer to aged care residents.

Hundreds of cards bear gift requests – everything from a new nightie to a book on trucks – and the club's volunteers are committed to filling them.

It's an especially important job this year, with so many aged care homes spending months in lockdown.

But there's a problem – donations are down and there are a record number of stockings to fill.

So A Current Affair decided to take a hand.
