Australian fashion darling Jessica White was "all smiles" when A Current Affair tracked her down in Bali - until she was asked about the "missing money" she owed.

The Shakuhachi founder was accused of owing close to $1 million to around 80 creditors when she left Australia.

But Allen said when he managed to find her in Bali, she appeared to be "living quite the life on Instagram" and was seen at her beach club "drinking wine and dancing in the sunshine".

Allen said rumours that Ms White was living it up on the island paradise had "seemed to anger" those who were owed money and unhappy customers who claimed they couldn't get any restitution or response.

When the reporter confronted Ms White at a Seminyak café for some answers, Ms White ran and locked herself in a men's bathroom while staff threatened to call the police.

"We weren't quite sure, with the Balinese police, where we'd end up in this scenario," he said.
