Air Con Feud

They say it sounds like an airplane engine mixed with a rubbish compactor and it is making them miserable.
Response from local council over the noise issue:
City of Parramatta Council conducted investigations into noise complaints regarding an air conditioning unit in Carlingford last year. On two separate occasions Council measured the noise emissions from the air conditioner and both times it arrived at the same result. The investigations, which were conducted in accordance with the guidelines provided by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), determined that the noise generated by the air conditioning unit was within legal limits. The EPA advised that Council’s methods of measuring and assessment of noise were correct based on the application of the Noise Guide. On three separate occasions, Council offered to conduct the measurements from the complainants’ bedroom (the point of complaint) but was not given access. Following further complaints, the NSW Ombudsman investigated Council’s handling of the matter and concluded that Council had acted appropriately.
