9NEWS to get first look at the NRL’s new video bunker changing the way referees see the game

A video bunker, capturing every camera angle, from every NRL game in the 2016 season, is expected to halve the time taken to review a decision.

9NEWS cameras have been allowed exclusive access to the high security facility based at Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh, Sydney.

The multi-million dollar technology inside the bunker is expected to change the way referees see the game and the way viewers watch it on television.

NRL Head of Football Todd Greenberg believes the Central Command Centre, as it’s formally known, will improve “accuracy, efficiency, consistency, as well as transparency” of the video referee decision-making process.

“"Ultimately, it has the potential to help us make the right decisions – and to make them quicker,” he said in an earlier statement.
