Phil Goyen

Phil Goyen has been a TV News and Current Affairs producer for almost two decades.

After graduating from Charles Sturt University in Bathurst he started work as a cadet journalist at Prime Television, Orange, NSW. 

From Prime Television he moved to the Seven Network, Sydney first as a news reporter then as a field producer for programs including 11AM, the 6PM news, True Stories and Today Tonight. 

During that time Phil covered major news events around the world including September 11, the Bali Bombings and the 2003 Iraq War.  He also line-produced major LIVE world news specials.

Locally Phil produced news events including coverage of the Beaconsfield mine disaster and coverage of Steve Irwin's passing. 

Since joining 60 Minutes in 2008 Phil has covered a number of world news events including the tsunami in Japan - which included visiting Fukushima. Phil has also travelled to Sierra Leone to cover the Ebola outbreak and visited Pakistan to produce a feature with political leader Imran Khan. 

Other stories Phil has produced include jailhouse interviews, extraordinary medical breakthroughs and a trip to Chernobyl.  Phil's team was the first Australian TV crew into the Bangladesh clothing factories following the Rana factory collapse. 

Entertainment stories Phil has produced for 60 Minutes include EXCLUSIVE interviews with Katherine Jackson and Conrad Murray. 

Phil's story 'Rising from the Ashes' about the Victorian bushfire disaster was nominated for a Logie award. 

Phil's story 'The Ebola Saint' was nominated for an Amnesty International Media Award.

Phil is based in Los Angeles.
