This is Gareth’s fifth time around at 60 Minutes.

He joined the program as a researcher in 1979, its first year on air. Between then and now he has worked and lived around the globe – producing newsmagazine reports and documentaries for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, CBS 60 Minutes and American ABC News 20/20 – along the way picking up a coveted US National Emmy Award (2009) for a ground-breaking report on human trafficking and slavery in Southern Africa.

He has covered everything from a space launch in Kazakhstan to a tsunami in Sri Lanka; travelled to warzones in Lebanon, Afghanistan and most recently, Syria – where with 60 Minutes’ Tara Brown he produced a series of world-first reports on the courageous female Kurdish fighters battling ISIS.

Gareth re-joined 60 Minutes in 2018 for its 40th Anniversary year, and has a hard time believing he was there at the beginning!
