50 Cent throws terrible baseball pitch

Rapper 50 Cent may want to stick to handling the microphone after an atrocious attempt at a first pitch during a New York Major League Baseball game.

50, real name Curtis Jackson, was a special guest at the New York Mets home game at Citi Field in Queens last night and was called up to the pitcher's mound for the long-standing baseball ritual of the ceremonial first pitch.

And as CBS Sports put it, 50's attempt was "… not good".

The Queens-born musician's limp-wristed attempt saw his left arm feebly hurl the ball about three metres to the right of Mets catcher Anthony Recker before the start of their game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The New York Daily News wondered if the rapper was actually right handed, saying it was perhaps the worst first pitch ever, while 50 himself levelled the blame at his alter-ego.

"50 Cent is the best," he said to SportsNet New York.

"Curtis Jackson, I don't know what's the matter with him."

The Mets ended up winning the game 4-2.
