*Siege ended at 2.40am on Tuesday, after a fire fight erupted about 2.10am

*Details of the confrontation between the gunman and police still to be confirmed

*NSW Police have accounted for 17 hostages

*The 2 dead and 6 injured include:

- Tori Johnson, 34, pronounced dead after being taken to hospital

- Katrina Dawson, 38, pronounced dead after being taken to hospital

- Woman, 75, gunshot wound to shoulder; condition stable

- Woman, 52, gunshot wound to foot; condition stable

- Woman, 43, gunshot wound to leg; condition stable

- Pregnant woman, 35, taken to hospital for health and welfare assessment; condition stable

- Pregnant woman, 30, taken to hospital for health and welfare assessment; condition stable

- Male police officer, 39, gunshot wound to face; discharged

*Hostage taker Man Haron Monis, 50, pronounced dead at scene.
